could you perhaps provide some graphics? following all those numbers and percents by listening is not so easy ;)

    Hi Markus,
do you plan to support other ways than PayPal for donating (e.g. an old style bank account)? Kind of Dauerauftrag is waiting for se-radio.
    Ciao,
    Greg

No, we'll only support PayPal. Every other mechanism will result in all kinds of tax issues.

    Sorry,
    Markus

    Hi Markus,
in the survey I forgot to suggest the topic EMF and GMF for a future podcast. You could also introduce AndroMDA or oAW and show how the combination of these (and maybe other) tools change the way software will be developed.

    Cheers,
    Arne

    Thanks Arne,

however, at least in the near future we won't do much model-driven stuff, we've already covered quite a bit of that topic.

    Cheers,
    Markus

    Hi Markus,

please provide us with a text-based version of the statistics of the survey. We appreciate hearing your soothing voice, but it is really exhausting to concentrate on half an hour of statistics :-)

Running w/ the theme of future topic suggestions... I would be interested in hearing more from the RESTful web service world. Particularly Jerome Louvel (Restlets)

    Thanks,

About se-radio conference. Rather than a conference, how about a virtual conference, such as a group call using skype or some common video-conferencing technology. The idea is to allow the team to understand listener better. Emails/comments are great, but the personal touch in the form interactive-ness still have an important role.

Hi, this sounds actually like a good idea! We will think about it. The problem of course is that Skype does not allow too many participants in a group conversation (6, I think). But we could of course use Skype to have people call in.

But that would mean we'd have to run the podcast at a predefined time, and you'll need to be online at the same time (i.e. maybe deep in the night :-)) for you to be able to call in.

I have been thinking about something like that for quite a while, actually, but I was sceptical about the logistics involved.

    Let's see, maybe sometime...

Hi, maybe real web-radio could be a solution? For predefined times, you could do a realtime streaming radio podcast, where listeners could come in by skype oder phone call. Maybe four times a year. And maybe this could even be the next step in podcasting: realtime podcasts ;-)

    Best regards
    Matthias

Hmm.. I think I was probably a bit harsh in my survey comments now. I've just been doing some serious studying and it was really useful to dip back and listen to a few of the earlier podcasts again (I actually understood them this time). I appreciate the effort a lot more now ! :)

BTW the audio quality has always been fine for me, it would be fine by me if the team used the donations for something other than new audio kit, but hey, use them for what you want -- just keep up the good work!

    Two improvements for web site:

Could the archive be a single page, please (like the main page)? - it's really difficult to track though months when you're looking for something (I ended up using Google)?

Can I get an email when someone's responded to a comment? (All right - I know it's difficult. But I've got to ask).

    Hi Charles,

we are currently in the process of building a new website. It'll go live probably within a month or so. It will solve both your problems.

    Cheers,
    Markus

Markus often mentions complaints about the audio quality, but I disagree. Compared to other podcasts I listen to, se-radio has very good audio quality. Simply, it's not a problem for me.

As far as ads, I know you have to pay the bills. I donated some, but it's up to the team to decide if you need additional revenue or not.

    Hi Markus,

I guess it's really a problem donations cannot made by Credit Cards. It's not a difference for me to spend 50-100 € for a magazine or your podcast, but will definitely not open a Paypal account for an one times donation.

    But an other idea:
I assume the host location is in Germany. Why not open a registried club ( called in Germany e.V.) - needs 7 people for founding, you have no problem with taxes, because you are a declared non-profit organization. Even if a few listeners enter the club with a year member fee of lets say about $ 50, the basic cost are covered. Further, it's garanteed you don't use money for other interests and the exellent would continue without you support.

And you should make transparent your costs and donations for listeners. No one likes to spend in a black box...

    Just suggestions.

    Greetings,
    Claus

    Hi Claus,

opening a club is too much bureaucratic work. The time we'll have to put into it is probably more than what we actually use to do the SE Radio work.
So this does not make any sense.

    Sorry,
    Markus

Hi Marcus, You didn't tell us how to donate. Suggest you just put in a one-liner to the shows telling how.

Gush to Peter's comment - written statistics much needed.

I was surprised at all the negative comments in the survey. I think this podcast is great, the audio quality is great, the choice of topics is great. I've learned a ton. You're all doing an amazing job. Please keep up the good work and don't feel like you need to change too much; I like it just as it is.
