Guest: Erik Meijer
Host: Arno

This episode is a discussion with Erik Meijer on LINQ. This is a relatively technical discussion about the following topics: what is LINQ, what are the common abstractions between the different data structures one can access with LINQ, what is the relationship to established languages for querying, how does the integration into the type system of the host language work, how to specify the mapping between the language level classes and the data, and how optimizations are implemented (lazy loading, prefetching, etc.).

Wow, the audio quality on Meijer's side of the recording is absolutely appalling. Sorry guys, but this is not something I can listen to. It's a shame because I'm really interested in what Meijer has to say.

Yeah, well, sorry - that was my fault. Not that this makes it any better, but when I recorded the interview - it was done over a telephone - I misadjusted the recording level. We - especially Markus - did our best to salvage what was possible, but even so we are aware that the quality is quite bad.

But faced with the alternatives of not posting the interview and offering it in this low quality, we opted for the latter. And while we are doing our best to maintain a high standard for audio quality, glitches like this can happen.

    Sorry again.

Please consider recording another (replacement) episode with Erik Meijer. I'm interested in this topic, but this podcast quality was just unbearable. I appreciate the work that went into trying to rescue the recording, but its just too painful to try to listen to.

I'd like to second the request for another show. I struggled through the podcast, but had extreme difficulty and missed much of it. I'm quite interested in LINQ, and would really appreciate if you could manage another show on it.

Again, I apologize for the bad technical quality of the episode. And we learned from our experiences with this episode that it is probably better to not publish an episode at all than to publish it with bad technical quality, and we will act accordingly.

Still, we would not want to impose on Erik's time by asking him to re-record the interview.
